The last quote “I want your life to matter to mine. I want to build something neither of us can walk away from unchanged” is going to linger with me for a while. It reminds me of another OD lyric: “love is never wasted when it’s shared”

This 1,000% the breakdown of the story line is the ultimate reminder! It’s a choice everyday to work to write the next line… a practice… I don’t get to fill my mind with junk and expect it to just happen… it’s easy to forget in a world of comfort. The uncomfortable is where we learn how to stretch & grow ✨

The idea of losing the plot is compelling.

In storytelling, we often consider the difference between plot driven stories and character driven stories. Plot based stories can be good, but the problem is the arc and the ending have been decided before the characters even meet.

And truthfully, I think dating in the modern world has become too plot heavy. Even though I no longer utilize dating apps, and haven’t for years, it feels as if most of the people I know who use them have a “plot” in mind and they are endlessly the casting director, analyzing if this new person is the right fit.

And in the world of online dating and decision fatigue, there is always a line of talent waiting for their audition. Or something.

Instead of looking for a character who we can co-create a story with, we’re looking for the perfect actor to fulfill the role we’ve already written in our head.

This question struck me, “Did feminism — or the way we’ve metabolized it — ruin love?”

My answer: No*

*Modern feminism didn’t ruin love, but it did change the rules, in very positive ways, but the truth is that men are struggling on a large scale, all over the world, to adjust and understand what they should be. I think women, too.

I’d love to hear what more thoughts you have on this, as well as whether or not we should lose plot entirely.
